OneNote file recovery
1. Selection of a damaged file
The first step of the wizard allows you to select the damaged file you want to recover data from. This can be done in one of the following ways:
- By entering the name of the damaged OneNote file and its path into the input field located in the center of the program screen;
- By using the standard dialog that can be opened by clicking an icon to the right of the input field;
- By selecting one of the previously used files from the dropdown list that can be opened by clicking a small button with a downward arrow in the right part of the input field.
Once the damaged OneNote file has been selected, you can proceed to the next step by clicking the Analyze button at the bottom of the program window. The program will prompt for a confirmation and will move forward once it's received.
2. Analysis of the damaged OneNote file and extraction of image files
This step of the wizard is almost completely automated. Recovery Toolbox for OneNote will scan the structure of the selected notes file and show a list of images it has managed to identify as recoverable. Their quantity and total size are shown under the list. You can check/uncheck items on the list manually or use the Check All / Uncheck All commands from the popup menu that appears when you right-click anywhere on the list. Once you've made your selections, click Next to proceed to the next (and final) step of the process.
At this point, you will need to specify the name and location of the output folder that will be used for storing the recovered data snapshots. Similarly to specifying the name of the damaged file, this selection can be made in one of the three ways (see above). Please note that the DEMO version DOES NOT save recovered files. To remove this limitation, please purchase the full version of the program.
Once the files have been recovered and saved to the specified destination folder, Recovery Toolbox for OneNote shows a summary screen with detailed information about this recovery session. You can now quit the program by clicking the Exit button or go back to the file selection step using the Back button.
You can now navigate to the specified output folder and view your files.

I thought they were restoring the OneNote database immediately. But the program could only pull files from the database and nothing else. Now I manually insert files into new notes.

Ahah, a window popped up in MS OneNote asking you to click here to repair the damaged partition. After I pressed it, I immediately threw it out of the program and when opening the file showed another error "Damaged lost data". This program helped me extract data from a damaged .ONENOTE file. Microsoft OneNote 2007 stopped opening my diary, the error "This Section is corrupt" popped up. Pictures were extracted to a folder, and the diary itself was restored.
After recovering the computer, there were problems opening Microsoft OneNote, writes: “It looks like this section file is damaged.
